Event volunteering opportunities

Throughout the year, we have multiple opportunities for you to share your Brookes experience with prospective students. It can be a very enriching experience and prospective students always look forward to meeting alumni.

open day

On this page, you will find a list of upcoming events where we would love to have alumni share memories of their time at Brookes and tell prospective students about their career path.

If this sounds like something you would like to do, please register your interest by signing up to any of the events below and we will be in touch with you.

Please note that by registering your interest you are not making a formal commitment. It is simply the start of a conversation with a member of staff.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Friday 11 December
Friday 22 January

We are looking for alumni to answer some questions from and provide their insight to participants on our Brookes Engage sustained access programme. We currently have 65 participants from sixth forms and colleges across Oxfordshire taking part in the 18-month programme, which is designed to help students learn more about university and prepare for their future.

We’re looking for alumni who would be happy to provide the following:

  1. A photo and short profile about themselves, which would be shared to the participants on our Brookes Engage Online Hub. This could include the degree they did at Brookes, an overview of their career pathway since, any particular barriers they felt they overcame during their time at university, etc. This would be required by Friday 11th December 2020.
  2. After reading their profiles, students would be able to submit questions to the alumni, which our staff team would gather and send via email on Friday 15 January (alumni email addresses would not be given directly to the students). Alumni would then need to film a short video of themselves answering the questions by Friday 22 January. The video should take less than 10 minutes to film and should be provided in a raw, unedited format, as it will need to be edited by our staff team in line with Brookes’ branding guidelines.

We are looking for alumni from the following subject groups to take part:

  • Business/Entrepreneurship
  • Biology/Biomedicine
  • Criminal Psychology
  • Nursing/Physiotherapy/Midwifery
  • English/Creative Writing
  • Law

If you would like to take part, please contact Catherine Bailey (catherine.bailey@brookes.ac.uk) by Friday 27 November 2020.
