Betty Siham

Meet Betty Siham. Betty is from war-torn South Sudan and is here on a scholarship at Oxford Brookes thanks, in part, to the generosity of our alumni and friends.

Betty is fulfilling her ambitions by doing her master’s in Development and Emergency Practice through CENDEP – our internationally respected Centre for Development and Emergency Practice.

Betty’s commitment and determination are clear. She has three young daughters who are living in the safety of neighbouring Uganda with their grandmother, so that Betty can get this degree. Her husband is working in South Sudan to support the family.

Will you support more students like Betty?

CENDEP has trained nearly 1,000 passionate and dedicated graduates, who are working with local communities affected by natural disaster and armed conflict around the world to provide sustainable, humanitarian and development support.

Betty knows that with this degree she can provide a greater and more stable future not only for her and her family, but equally for the people of South Sudan.

Betty's story

A scholarship gave Betty Siham the opportunity to study at CENDEP and her course is giving her the confidence to help rebuild her home country, South Sudan.
