Memory lane for the class of 1969 architects

November 2019

Architects reunion

The alumni group met current Head of the School of Architecture Matt Gaskin and one of their former architecture lecturer’s Professor Byron Mikellides and the Alumni Team.

They were given a tour around the new John Henry Brookes building and the current studio spaces and printing room in Abercrombie Building that is used by the architectural, urban design and planning students. They were impressed by the collaborative areas and the enthusiasm of the students who were working through their lunch breaks!

Professor Mikellides showed them some interesting Doric Society and OSA (Oxford School of Architecture) memorabilia which triggered lots of lively discussion about May morning and punting escapades and lecturers and classmates that they remembered.

The group mentioned that they have been friends for life and planned a trip to a different city with their wives and partners annually.

“Many thanks indeed for the splendid and memorable visit you and your colleague arranged for us last week. We were delighted to witness how the School of Architecture has gone from strength to strength since we all graduated in the late 60’s.”
