Course studied:
MSc Digital Media Production

Currently working as Project Manager for NOW TV

What made you choose Brookes as a place to study?

The course was right at the time – it contained different modules which gave me a broad insight into the world of Tech.

What is your best memory of your time at Oxford Brookes?

Being supported by others and having a good mentor.

After graduating from Brookes what were the next steps for your career?

I found it hard to secure a role initially because of lack of job experience. It’s always hard when you first start out in a career. I had to live at home for a while and managed to get a General Assistant role on an initial part-time basis at a small radio broadcasting in Vauxhall which specialised in rebroadcasting radio feeds from one side of the world to the other and was trying to expand into digital video content playout. I then moved in the company twice ending up as a Transmission Controller – monitoring and managing the output of live TV channels and ensuring that content was accurate.

What was your inspiration to move into your current profession?

I had been at Sky for 7 years and wanted a career change. I had had enough of shift work as well.

What success stories/achievements have you had in your role?

Coming from a very technical role to a business role has had its challenges but I think having a good technical pragmatic approach has allowed me to build on my knowledge.

What is the best advice someone has given you?

Always ask silly questions. Because they’re not silly!
