Chapter Introduction

A warm welcome to the Oxford Brookes Alumni London Chapter. The chapter is recently formed (May 2020) and is now working as a small committee (with support from the Oxford Brookes Alumni office) to grow the alumni network in London. We look forward to growing the connections through a series of events and activities over the coming years in the London area.

Our LinkedIn group is the online home of the chapter so please do join us for the latest updates and news. We would also ask that you share this group amongst alumnus friends and colleagues and also please do take the chance to introduce yourself to members of the group.

Vijay Krishnarayan

Chapter Leader

« I first studied Planning at the Polytechnic (1983-86) and then later at the University for an MSc. Along the way I have worked with and for civil society organisations at home and abroad. Having focussed on strengthening environmental action in the early 90s with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations in England, I spent 10 years in the Caribbean, developing partnerships for sustainable development with the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI). I joined the Commonwealth Foundation - the Commonwealth’s agency for civil society - in 2006, first as Deputy and then Director-General. I stood down in 2019 having served the maximum term. Since then I’ve been retained as an independent technical adviser for several international development agencies. »

Nyan Amer

Business / Engagement Officer

« I graduated from Oxford Brookes in 2005 having studied Cellular and Molecular Biology. Since graduating I have focused my career away from science and towards sport and the business behind sport, primarily through commercial sponsorship with brands and businesses. The sports industry is a very dynamic and fast-changing environment and I have been fortunate to have worked with a number of rights holders that have embraced and pioneered changes.  In recent years I have worked with the Isle of Man TT, NFL (National Football League) and I am currently working with F1, as we journey towards a new unprecedented chapter in sport. »

Maud Hannaford

Administration Officer

« I completed a Master's Degree in International Business, Culture and Languages in 2017. Since graduating I have been working for an international snacks company as a Corporate Communication Officer. Over the past 3 years, I have gained experience in corporate marketing, internal and external communication while supporting major changes such as mergers and corporate rebranding. Working for a multinational group I have the opportunity to travel frequently between our English, French, and Spanish sites which allows me to engage with different cultures and perspectives. I feel like Oxford Brookes prepared me for my current role as during my course I collaborated with people from all over the world which is also true about being an Alumna in London. »
