Where are you working now?
I am currently working as a congressman of Alay Buhay Party list; representing micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs. I am a member of the 15th and 16th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines.
Did your career turn out how you expected it to be?
Yes, though my first job after graduation was working with the family business, engaging in various business investments. I started handling the investments and business development side of the corporation then later on transferred to the Hotels and Casino operation. Unexpectedly, a new career path opened and this time it was more to do with public service.
What achievements are you most proud of since graduating?
I am delighted to share a recent achievement in my life. Elections in our country were recently held and it is of great pride to inform my fellow alumni that I have won a seat in the 16th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines, making me one of the youngest elected congressmen in the House of Representatives.
As a graduate in Business and Operations Management from Oxford Brookes, as well as a graduate of the post-graduate diploma in Management from London Metropolitan University (2003-2004), I am very proud to share the knowledge that I have gained in my years in UK to my fellow countryman. I certainly believe that a young public servant like me can bring hope and opportunity to the many small entrepreneurs in the Philippines.
How has the course you studied at Oxford Brookes helped you in your career?
Being a graduate in Business and Operations Management, I was able to share with many micro and small entrepreneurs the knowledge of opening their own businesses, starting their own companies, tools in marketing and promoting their products, harnessing their creativity and skills, preparing their business plan etc. The business acumen and knowledge that I have gained with my studies has given me the skills to share and motivate other Filipinos in establishing and operating their own micro businesses. I am also writing legislative bills to protect their rights and further improve the welfare of the millions of micro entrepreneurs that are supporting our nation’s economy.
