Westminster College

The Westminster Society

In 1959, Westminster College relocated from London to Harcourt Hill in Oxford. In 2000, the college merged with Oxford Brookes University.

The Westminster Society is an alumni society which provides contact between members through an annual magazine, The Westminsterian, electronic newsletters and an Annual Reunion at the Harcourt Hill Campus of Oxford Brookes.

Some regional groups also provide contact and reunion opportunities. It also links Westminster College alumni with Oxford Brookes Alumni office and the wider university.

It is organised by an executive Committee which is chaired by Sylvia Clift. There are around 800 members and the annual membership fee is £5.

Records show there has been alumni activity since Westminster College was founded by the Methodist Church in 1851. The early activities for former students were organised by the Westminster Club which grew into the present Westminster Society.

Bachelor of Arts Degrees

In September 2020, 517 Old Westminsterians - who had studied at Westminster College between 1954 and 1980 - were awarded Bachelor of Arts degrees. The Covid-19 pandemic meant it was sadly impossible for an in-person graduation ceremony to go ahead, so they were sent the following congratulations video.
